Bewley’s Airport Hotel at Dublin Airport required a reliable way to reduce payment abuse within its Park & Ride operation. Some motorists were leaving vehicles on-site for long periods and attempting to pay for only a brief stay upon exit. Alongside this, the hotel needed better identification of vehicles entering the car park and improved visibility of day-to-day activity. Carra designed and delivered a tailored ANPR and management system now used every day by hotel staff.

The Challenge

The hotel identified several issues:

  • Motorists taking advantage of the car park by overstaying and attempting short-stay payments.
  • Limited visibility of who was entering the facility, raising security concerns.
  • A requirement to record number plates across two lanes with opposing traffic flow.
  • A need for consistent activity logs and parking revenue projections.

The goal was a secure, dependable system that gave staff clear oversight of vehicle movements and accurate payment validation.

  • A media archive of ANPR images and a historical SQL database of vehicle movements.

  • A telephone gateway capable of issuing automated voice alerts for watch-listed vehicles.
  • Variable message sign (VMS) control for customised welcome, security or instruction messages.

Web-based access for staff

  • A secure online interface allowing multiple hotel personnel to review arrivals, departures and payment information.
