Horizon Logistics Park – Loading Bay EV Charger Deployment

Carra delivers 46 compact CTEK chargers across Horizon Logistics Park’s loading bays

Horizon Logistics Park required a large-scale EV charging solution to support vehicles loading and unloading at multiple bays. The project presented physical constraints: narrow spaces between bays meant traditional chargers risked being struck by vehicles manoeuvring. Carra designed and installed a compact CTEK-based solution that allowed efficient charging without obstructing logistics operations.

The Challenge

The site needed to:

  • Install EV chargers in tight loading bay areas with minimal risk of impact damage.
  • Provide chargers that could support rapid turnover of vehicles during loading and unloading.
  • Deploy a large number of units while keeping the footprint small.
  • Support both warehouse vehicles and staff EV users.

Conventional chargers, with larger housings, were unsuitable due to the risk of being damaged by reversing trucks or vans.

Carra’s Solution

Compact CTEK charging units

Carra selected CTEK EV chargers with a reduced form factor to suit the narrow loading bay layout.
Each unit delivers 22 kW AC charging.

Back-to-back mounting

To minimise space usage, chargers were installed back-to-back on slim poles, reducing obstruction and improving safety.

Large-scale deployment across the site

A total of 34 chargers were installed across five loading bay areas:

  • Bay Area 1: 7
  • Bay Area 2: 7
  • Bay Area 3: 7
  • Bay Area 4: 7
  • Bay Area 5: 6

An additional 12 chargers were installed in the staff car park across two groups (4 and 8).

Integration and commissioning

Each charger was connected for power and data, then added to the back-office for:

  • Load balancing
  • Power management
  • Control through the site’s central switching system
