Carra supports twelve Nissan dealerships with nationwide SGTE quick charger installations

Following the success of the fully electric Nissan Leaf — winner of the 2011 World Car of the Year — twelve Nissan dealerships across Ireland prepared for the arrival of new vehicles. Each site needed a compliant DC fast charging solution suitable for the ChaDeMo standard used by early Leaf models. Carra acted as the official Irish installation and maintenance provider for SGTE, delivering a complete turnkey rollout.

The Challenge

The dealerships needed:

  • Fast chargers installed across twelve locations before customer vehicles arrived.
  • Assessments of existing electrical capacity and site layouts.
  • Civil engineering, groundworks and 3-phase electrical upgrades.
  • A reliable installer trained in SGTE equipment with proven health and safety credentials.

Timing was critical, as early Leaf customers expected full charging facilities immediately upon vehicle handover.

Carra delivered a full national project incorporating technical, electrical and logistical services.

Site surveys and preparation

  • Detailed assessment of each dealership’s layout and electrical infrastructure.
  • Planning of civil works and 3-phase upgrades.

Engineering works

  • Groundworks and construction of mounting bases capable of supporting 500 kg, 55 kW SGTE quick chargers.
  • Safe lifting, transport and placement of each charger.
  • All electrical works completed to Electro-Technical Council of Ireland standards.

Electrical commissioning

  • Full 3-phase testing and commissioning of each charger.
  • Compliance with SGTE manufacturer requirements and Irish wiring regulations.

Ongoing support

Continuing maintenance for each dealership. using Java, HTML and SQL, demonstrating strong capability in integrated ITS systems.

Warranty cover for all installations.
